California workers’ comp paralegal software

The whole case file, read and organized before the MSC.

Voxium Legal reads every record in a comp file — including the scanned, faxed and handwritten ones — and gives your team a merged chronology, a body-part-by-body-part case summary, and answers with a page cite behind every one.

Reads scanned & handwritten records Every finding cited to document and page Your files stay in your workspace

It reads the pages nobody wants to read

Faxed UR denials, photocopied PR-2s, handwritten chart notes — pages a text search skips entirely are transcribed and indexed.

It shows its work

Every finding carries the document name and page number, so a paralegal can verify it in seconds instead of hunting for it.

It speaks California comp

QME and AME procedure, LC 4628, apportionment, the 2005 PDRS, UR and IMR — the vocabulary of the file, not generic document AI.

The reality of the file

Nine hundred pages land eleven days before the MSC.

Half of it is duplicated. A third of it is scanned sideways. Somewhere inside is the one PR-4 that changes the rating — and the only way anyone finds it is by reading all of it, twice.

  • The chronology eats a day

Building one timeline from twelve providers, three subpoena responses and a deposition is a full day of work that has to be redone every time records come in.

  • Scanned records hide

Ctrl-F does not find a faxed denial or a handwritten note. Those pages get skimmed, and skimmed pages are where the defect lives.

  • Defects get caught late

An apportionment opinion with no reasoning, a body part never addressed, a rating that does not add up — better found now than at the hearing.

What it does

Medical chronology, case summary and QME review — six things, done to your standard.

Not a chatbot bolted onto a PDF viewer. A case workspace built around how a comp file is actually worked.

🕑

Merged chronology

One timeline across every document in the case: injury, treatment, imaging, surgery, work-status changes, MMI, med-legal exams, UR and IMR, procedural milestones. Duplicates merged, sources listed, gaps and delays called out.

📋

Case summary by body part

Medical status for each claimed part, the key medical-legal opinions and where they conflict, restrictions, future medical, and an open-items checklist you can actually work from.

💬

Ask the case

“What WPI did the QME give for the low back?” “Was the shoulder ever addressed?” Answers come back with the quote and the page — and say plainly when something is not in the file.

🩻

Scanned-record reading

Pages with no extractable text are transcribed page by page, uncertain handwriting marked rather than guessed, then indexed with the rest of the file so search finally reaches them.

⚑

Defect flags

LC 4628 problems, apportionment stated without the “how and why”, rating inconsistencies, records the evaluator never received, body parts left unaddressed — surfaced as a review list for the attorney.

🏛

A firm workspace

Cases shared across seats, your letterhead and work-product legend on every export, full-text search across the whole case file, and read-aloud so a summary can be reviewed on the drive to the board.

How it works

Three steps. The first case is set up in about four minutes.

Open the case

Caption, ADJ number, date of injury, applicant, body parts claimed, which side your office represents. That context shapes every analysis that follows.

Drop the file in

PDFs digital or scanned, DOCX, TXT — twenty at a time. Each document is read, transcribed where needed, indexed and summarized while you keep working.

Work the case

Build the chronology and the summary, ask the file questions, search every page, then copy or download the work product on your letterhead for attorney review.

Built on the law it is reading

Built on California med-legal procedure: QME, AME, LC 4628, PDRS and apportionment.

Generic document AI treats a QME report as a document. Voxium Legal treats it as a QME report — with the procedure, deadlines and substantial-evidence standards that come with it.

EvaluatorsQME, PQME panels and strikes, AME, and what “IME” usually means when it shows up in a California file.
ReportsLC 4628 requirements, 8 CCR 10682, ex parte rules, the med-legal fee schedule, report and strike deadlines.
RatingMMI/P&S, WPI under the AMA Guides 5th, the 2005 PDRS, Almaraz/Guzman, Kite, and LC 4663/4664 apportionment.
AuthorityEn banc, significant panel and ordinary panel decisions are never presented as carrying the same weight.
TreatmentPTP and MPN, UR under LC 4610, MTUS, IMR — and what is still pending versus denied.
BenefitsTTD/TPD/PPD, life pension thresholds, and the SJDB voucher — labeled as statutory estimates, never settlement predictions.
MedicineImaging, EMG/NCV, operative reports, PR-2 and PR-4, FCEs, psych testing, and the injuries comp files are made of.
DisciplineIt does not reproduce the Guides or MTUS text, does not invent citations, and says plainly when something is not in the record.

Who it is for

For workers’ comp paralegals, applicant attorneys, defense firms and hearing reps.

Applicant firms

Carry more files per paralegal without losing the detail that moves a rating.

Defense firms

Turn a subpoena response into a defensible chronology and a list of report defects the same afternoon.

Hearing representatives

Walk into an MSC knowing the file cold, with the page cite for every point you plan to make.

Lien claimants

Find the treatment, the authorization and the UR history across hundreds of pages in minutes.

The three-file pilot

Bring three closed comp files where you already know the answers.

The QME’s WPI, the apportionment, the dates. Fourteen days free, no card. Run them through and check it against your own copy. If Voxium misses something you know is in the file, tell us the page. Prices are the prices — no sales call, no annual lock-in — and the first twenty firms keep their price for two years.

Custom build

Need it shaped around how your firm actually works?

For offices that want Voxium Legal fitted to their own practice — your intake, your report formats, your templates, the systems you already run, and knowledge specific to the work you take on. We scope it with you and quote per firm.

Book a consultation

Higher volume, a bespoke arrangement, or a procurement process to run? Write to us.

Confidentiality

It is your client’s medical record. We built accordingly.

Originals stay in your case

Every file you upload is read, indexed and kept in your firm’s workspace — and nowhere else. Download it, export the whole case file, produce it to the other side, or delete it; it is gone when you delete it.

Workspaces are isolated

Every case, document and search is scoped to a single firm. There is no shared pool and no cross-firm view — tenant isolation is covered by the test suite.

Your content does not train models

Analysis runs through the Anthropic API under our commercial account. Content sent there is not used for model training.

Deletion means deletion

Delete a document and its text and index entries go with it. Delete a case and everything in it — summaries, chronology, chat — is removed.

Questions

Questions every office asks about AI for workers’ compensation files.

Is this giving legal advice?

No. Voxium Legal is paralegal support software. It organizes documents and produces informational draft work product for the responsible attorney, who reviews it and remains responsible for the matter. It is not a lawyer, it is not the attorney of record, and it says so on every export.

Does it replace my paralegal?

No — it hands them the first eight hours of the file back. The judgment about what matters, what to argue and what to do next is still theirs. What changes is that they start from a cited chronology instead of a banker’s box.

How accurate is it, really?

Accurate enough to be useful, not so accurate that you should stop checking. That is why every finding carries a document name and page number — the product is designed to be verified, not trusted blindly.

It is built to say plainly when something is not in the record rather than fill the gap, and to flag its own uncertainty on handwriting it could not read cleanly.

What can I upload?

PDF — digital or scanned — plus DOCX, TXT, MD and RTF. Up to 80 MB per file and 20 files at a time. Scanned pages are transcribed automatically; you do not have to sort them first.

Is my client data used to train AI?

No. Analysis runs through the Anthropic API under our commercial account, where submitted content is not used for model training. Your files stay in your firm’s workspace — you can download, export or produce them, and delete them at any time.

Can I cancel?

Yes — plans are monthly and you can cancel at any time from Settings. You keep access through the end of the period you have paid for.

Does it work for anything other than California comp?

The document reading, chronology and search work on any medical-legal file. The specialized knowledge — QME procedure, the PDRS, apportionment standards — is California workers’ compensation. Other jurisdictions and practice areas are on the roadmap; tell us which one you need.

Put one real file through it.

Not a demo file — a file you already know. Upload it, build the chronology, and see whether it found what you found. That is the only test that matters.

Paralegal support software — not a lawyer, not legal advice. Outputs require attorney review.
